Dates Revisited for the Network

Posted 27 November 2016

Fibrehoods would like to thank all residents of Norwood, Orchards and Oaklands for their support and patience as they rollout the high-speed fibre network to your area.

Unfortunately they have experienced a delay in getting some of the blocks connected to the network. They apologise for this delay and their teams are working as quickly as possible to get all homes connected as soon as possible.

To see when your block will be connected, please click this link and follow these steps:

1. Search for your address

2. Click on the coloured block on the map where your address pin is

3. The pop-up block will indicate when your block will be live.

First home live

Posted 5 September 2016

The first home has been connected with super-fast internet! This is just the start, hundreds of other residents will be connected in the next few weeks.

Also, look out for the Fibrehoods flags that will be planted on your street pavements when the rollout reaches your zone. These are the planned positions for the poles that will be installed. If you object to the specific position, pull the flag out and lay it flat on the ground to let Fibrehoods know. You can reach out to the area manager if you want to discuss this further.

To reduce the number of poles to be planted, existing poles are used wherever possible, such as the Eskom electricity poles. If you want to see what the installation looks like, feel free to take a drive through the Phase 1 zone. Check out the Project Status page for a more detailed map on the zones planned for deployment.

Phase 1 in progress!

Posted 27 August 2016

Check out the Project Status page for a more detailed map on the zone planned for deployment. Higher quality images and more details on the rollout are on the way, so we will update the website as soon as the information is available. 18 blocks have been covered with 79 poles that have been planted so far, and the City Power poles are also being used wherever possible. The actual fibre cable will be strung up in the next few days.

Fibrehoods have been doing their best to accommodate residents regarding the aesthetic consideration with the pole planting. They have been meeting on site day by day to get the most feasible pole position agreed and you can reach out to the area manager if you want to give your input.

Keep on rolling!

You may have met some of the Fibrehoods deployment team in our suburbs. Although a lot of planning still needs to be done, we are on our way to getting fast internet!

New poles are being planted and soon you will see the fibre cables being strung up.

NORA Fibre Migration: Fibrehoods comes to Norwood

13 July 2016

NORA and CAP have facilitated the discussions between Fibrehoods and VulaCom and a successful agreement has been reached. NORA believes the resolution to migrate the fibre roll-out provider from VulaCom to  Fibrehoods is in the best interest of all the parties concerned, in particular the residents.

Fibrehoods has already achieved a strong presence in suburbs neighbouring NORA, and VulaCom believes that NORA stakeholders will be best served when connected to this established and significant in-reach network.

The existing ISPs that have been marketing services in NORA will be included in the Fibrehoods offering, which means those who have signed up or expressed interest will simply be migrated over to Fibrehoods. NORA residents will also enjoy a broader selection of service providers that Fibrehoods brings with it.

The targeted date for first home live is 31 July 2016 and it is anticipated that all homes and businesses will be passed by the Fibre network by 30 November 2016.

You can follow the network deployment progress going forward on the NORA section of the Fibrehoods website.
